HISTORY Nestled in country that withstood the Spanish Conquistadors, Apache Indian warriors, early explorers, cowboys, prospectors, miners, gamblers, gunfighters and lawmen, Tombstone was founded by Ed Schiefflelin, a prospector and army scout based out of Fort Huachuca. When friends and fellow scouts learned that Ed had been out surveying the surrounding area for possible ore samples they told him that, “The only rock you’ll find out there will be your Tombstone!” Ed discovered a rich seam of silver ore in 1877, a strike that quickly attracted other miners to the area and led to Ed founding the town in 1879 naming it “Tombstone”. (Be sure to visit the Schieffelin Monument on the Ranch, it is Ed’s grave site.) DINING We serve three delicious meals daily, all with a home-cooked, hearty western style. We make our selections from favorite family recipes, based on what’s in season, to insure each meal is made with the freshest ingredients. Instead of à la carte dining you will enjoy our Chef’s Choice each evening. Breakfast and lunch offer a variety of options to suit all tastes. Our Special Chuck Wagon breakfast will likely be the best breakfast you’ve ever tasted by a campfire! HORSEBACK RIDING The dramatic landscape surrounding the ranch was and in many ways still is the real wild west and our rides take you there. Ride by ancient Native American Petroglyphs, abandoned Railroad grades and trestles, forgotten mines and old prospector’s monuments. Whether you are an experienced rider or a complete beginner we have rides for everyone. In our herd we have horses for different levels of rider and we try hard to match you to a horse that will make you vacation special.
TESTIMONIALS
"A short 5 minute drive from downtown Tombstone, this place seemed like a million miles away from the touristy but historic Tombstone. The majority of the drive out to the range is a well maintained dirt road. Watch out for the deer, especially in the morning and early evening. The rooms are set in an old west town setting and are named after various businesses. My room was The Bordello with an interior of velvet red. The room interior was period 1800's, but had the modern conveniences of a fridge and microwave along with cable flat screen TV and WiFi. The room was clean and nice size. There is a boardwalk connecting the rooms in front like a wild west town with rocking chairs. There is a restaurant and saloon with live music in the evening. Breakfast is included and made to order. During the warmer weather, they cook breakfast in the campfire area. If cold, Arizona Bill will still be there serving coffee and telling stories about the ranch and history of the area.
There are lots of activities around the ranch like horseback riding, hiking, shooting and archery. I only stayed one night. I wish I stayed longer. I think families will really enjoy!" - Solar T.
“This was a great place to go for vacation. The staff was amazing. The food was excellent. The rooms were clean. Every request was accommodated. The trail rides were great. We were able to ride horses, swim in a pool, eat great food, relax and take in the local history. What a place! I highly recommend! People make the difference and all the people that work in every part of the ranch were the best. If you go to Tombstone, the smartest decision you will make is to stay here!” - Skip W.
“My wife and I recently visited here for a weekend getaway and we just had the best time. The ranch is unique, fun and relaxing. Everyone on the staff from front desk, to kitchen/bartender, wranglers and even one of the owners were so kind and helpful. Food was excellent. Our room was perfect, and even getting to sit down and meet with the other guests was really refreshing. Town of tombstone is only minutes away, horseback riding, shooting 1800 style rifles, archery, hiking, pool, there are a lot of things to do but our favorite was just relaxing on their beautiful property. Looking forward to bringing our kids back here and Lord willing this will be a place we come to visit for years to come.” - Robert B.
